Assam

Assam - Assam is situated in the North-East region of India and is the largest north eastern state of the Seven Sisters States of India. Assam is bounded by Bhutan and Arunachal in the north; Nagaland and Manipur in the east; Bangladesh , Meghalaya , Tripura and Mizoram in the south and the rest of India in the west. Dispur is the state capital and Guwahati is the largest city in the state. Assam was known as the Kingdom of Pragjyotisha-Kamarupa earlier and was broken into smaller states during the beginning of the second millennium. Despite being an archaeologically and historically rich region, Assam is still a terra-incognito to the world. Assam is also a world leader in production of tea for more than hundred years. It has the highest reserves of oil and natural gas after Bombay High and Gujarat. Along with neighboring Arunachal, it has the richest biodiversity in India.
