Our accommodations suited each location from the fabulous Palace Fort in Sardargarh to the desert tent at Manwar and Hotel overlooking the Ganges in Varanasi.

Our driver, Praveen, has to be commended for his excellent, safe driving and reliability.

Trinetra were always available to iron out any issues caused by things beyond their control. The last night was memorable visiting and having dinner with Mr Tapas Banerjee and his delightful family. It is not every tour company that will open itself up to personal visits!! Bravo we will be back and will use Trinetra on our next Indian trip.

In order to accomplish this we stayed in royal homes ,B&Bs, tents , out in the Desert under the stars-even a memorable overnight train.

We experienced Varanasi's sunrise and sunset ceremonies,Mount Abu's Diwali celebrations, Khajuraho's Sound and Light show, Pushkars Camel Fair and of course the Taj Mahal's sunrise with an exceptional guide.

We rode on camels, Marwari horses and elephants,in tuk tuks , rickshaws, planes and AC trains and cars.

Our requests were attended to promptly by a an excellent team of representatives, drivers and guides. Tapas's expertise allowed us to enjoy INDIA'S treasure-HER PEOPLE and be amazed by incredible sights.India has left a mark on our hearts. LLOYD and MARILYNN

The offices, drivers and guides were all professional, on time, helpful and informed. We didn't expect that, so we were very pleased. No matter what part of the country we were in the office in Delhi was just a phone call away morning, noon and night, plus they checked in regularly with us to make sure all was going well and we were happy and satisfied with our accommodations and the exciting and varied itinerary they had planned for us.

Our guides were professional and knowledgeable, while a couple were exceptional and the drivers couldn't have been better. In particular, I must commend Praveen for his excellent, safe driving, reliability and patience. He gave us first class service beyond the call of duty, not an easy task when driving four, crazy, demanding ladies around India for two weeks!!!

If you are planning to visit India do yourself a favor, give Tapas and his team some idea of your budget, interests, where and what you would like to see and rest assured they will come up with many suggestions and alternatives for you to choose from. If you know nothing about India, never fear they will lead you by the hand through a land of history, culture, sounds, sights, smells and wonderful food on a journey of adventure you will never forget.

I made many friends along the way, and will always hold a fondness for Ram who was our driver and friend for most of the 2 weeks.

If I can make any recommendation, it is to request Ram, and try to keep him as your driver for the entire trip. He speaks English, knows every street, store, village, stone, shack, restaurant, etc. in India and can tell you a story about all of it. He is an Indian patriot and knowledgeable historian of India's culture and people.

When we first contacted Cox & Fox, we had some very specific and very general demands. We wanted to to visit Varanasi, spend a few nights in the That dessert, spend a few nights on a Tiger safari, and to infuse our trip with as much authentic off-the-tourist trail experiences as possible. Cox & Fox completely delivered.

Our hotel in Delhi was in the heart of everything, with easy access to the subways.

The hotel we stayed in in Varanasi was right on the main ghat. Our driver and guide were interesting and intelligent and really heightened our ability to decipher the meaning of a place that initially looked like total chaos to an American.

We had a great experience with Cox & Fox their drivers were all on-time, friendly, spoke great english and were knowledgeable about the areas we drove in. The company set us up with fantastic hotels, gave useful recommendations and checked in with us frequently during our trip to make sure everything was going smoothly. I even forgot my camera at one hotel and they had a sent a driver to the next city I was in to deliver it to me. The only glitch I wished would have been different was that they set up an overnight train ride from Varanasai to Agra and warned that it usually ran late. We were prepared for "late" but we weren't prepared for 12 hours of waiting in the station with no useable bathroom, food or water. The guide we were with was really great and patient about it and stayed with us the entire night, but said that he did the exact same wait the day before when the same train was 15 hours late. I felt like there should've been a back up plan if this is something that regularly happens; like getting a hotel for a few hours or catching a flight instead. This didn't ruin our trip but I would strongly suggest scheduling ANY other mode of transportation than the train.

The other thing to watch out for (and I think you'll experience this anywhere in India) is that the drivers and tour guides have made friends with certain stores, shops and vendors along their route. This lead us to same real hidden gems as well as some way overpriced, inauthentic crap. I wished I had done more research on pashmina, silk, rugs and stones/gems before I went. You'll hear alot of salesmen BS while you're there - just best to be knowledgeable!

Sales team: Great! It was a pleasure communicating with Ms. Bindhu He always answered all our questions promptly and appropriately. You were the pleasant face of Cox & Fox and we were sure the other departments would not disappoint us. Rightly so!

Operations: Excellent coordination and organization. We could not have expected anything better.

Tour guides: Well informed, courteous and pleasant

Driver: Excellent, outstanding, superb, brilliant, I can go on and on.....

From my first email to Tapas (Maharaja of Cox & Fox !) we were treated like royalty and they bent over backwards to provide answers to even the smallest of queries we had.

From the moment we landed in New Delhi and were greeted by the very handsome Raman, we felt safe and just so pleased we made the trip.

We spent just over 2 weeks travelling mainly through Rajasthan staying in a variety of accommodation - sometimes a fort, sometimes a Palace for example and we have terrific memories from each.

I'd have to say, what made our trip was having the same driver 'Suresh' for 14 days. He is just such an awesome person who looked after us so well.I'm trying to think of highlights but there are too many! The warmth of the Indian people was overwhelming!

To finish our experience we had dinner with Tapas at him home, with traditional home cooked food made by his beautiful wife Krishna, something that really was special.

To that end we picked Cox & Fox Tours - more or less arbitrarily - off the internet. This blog is intended to give reassurance to anyone as bemused as we were, by the plethora of choices on offer, and to confirm that - for us, at least – Cox & Fox did everything their advertising promised.

Cox & Fox were professional, punctual and reliable. The driver and his car (they had the same driver for 7 days) were immaculate and the guides and Cox & Fox reps who met us at each stopping point were knowledgeable, articulate and friendly. There were disappointments. No tigers at Ranthamboure. Absolutely no romance in travelling on Indian trains. Far too many people intent on ripping off tourists. But nothing that could be laid at Cox & Fox door. The only stricture is that when chosing hotels, restaurants and places to visit, travellers must be very specific in telling the tour company what is required. If you want European 4 star accommodation then you must say so upfront and be prepared to pay a little more. If you specify "budget", then that is what you will get.

We did Mumbai, Pune and West Rhajastan on our own and left Cox & Fox to show us the Golden Triangle. It is as full of cliches as you would expect, but breathtaking nonetheless

constant checking whether things were going according to plan and a willingness to address issues as they cropped up. Cox & Fox demonstrated a understanding of our requirements from the word go, and made a special effort to accommodate our requirements.

On the downside we were disappointed in the accommodation in Cochin, we missed out on some scheduled activities because the driver was not briefed, and the timings to get to some of the destinations were under-estimated (but getting that right in the context of Indian traffic is virtually impossible!). We also found that the quality of the guides provided were variable: some of the guides were amazing with lots of experience and able to provide real insights into Indian culture, while some the guides gave us the obligatory highlights and then left us to our own devices (invariably the younger ones).

All the staff were helpful and polite. We had a call at each new hotel to make sure we were ok.

The tour was well planned and executed. All we had to do was turn up and enjoy ourselves.
